The undergraduate certificate in UAS Operations provides students with operational knowledge and skills that prepare them for success in a myriad of industries that utilize UAS. Students will learn, through hands-on labs, how to safely operate sUAS to the NIST and ASTM standard. Additional courses will prepare students to deal with project management, aviation safety management systems, aviation law, geophysical applications, or geological and environmental applications. Students that complete the UAS Operations Undergraduate Certificate will be well poised for jobs in UAS operations in a variety of industries including: agricultural applications, manufacturing applications, survey and inspection operations, geological applications, and policy and rulemaking.
Prerequisite for the certificate include one of the following:
- Successful completion of AVS 1801 and the FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG);
- Successful completion of a private pilot certificate and the FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG); or
- Successful completion of the FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG)
Most courses will have in-person components that will require the student to be present at campus for entirety of the semester.
