- Minimum grade of “C” in all course work required for the major.
- At least on “writing intensive” course at the 3000-level.

1. Introductory level history course (3 hours)
2. Intermediate level history courses
9 hours, including a 3 hour of intensive writing course. (See the list of courses below.)
- 3000-level ANY AREA or HIST 2900 Credits: 3 hours
- 3000-level U.S. Area Credits: 3 hours
3. Advanced level history course (3 hours)
All 4000-level U.S. area history courses meet the baccalaureate-level writing requirement. The prerequisite for these courses is one 3000-level writing intensive course or instructor approval.

4. Public History Core Courses (9 hours)
