HIST 3850 - Modern Middle East The Middle East since the collapse of the Ottoman Empire at the close of World War I. Emphasis is upon the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict, which may be seen as thematic of the clash of the major forces shaping the modern Middle East, including Arab nationalism, Zionism, and colonialism.
