NUR 6600 - Curriculum and Teaching of Theory in Health Disciplines This course is designed to provide experienced health professionals currently holding (or planning to hold) faculty positions, with the theoretical foundations of how adults learn, how to design curricula in a health professional discipline, what and how to teach in the theoretical domain, and how to evaluate whether learning has occurred. The primary focus of the course is promoting excellence in classroom teaching with adults. Content includes values clarification, personal learning styles, critical thinking and communication strategies. Micro-teaching with peer assessment is included. A designated mentor teacher, nominated by the student and approved by the course director, works in partnership with the student and WMU faculty.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisite: Admission to the Masters of Science in Nursing or instructor approval.
Credits: 3 hours
