PHYS 5630 - Solid State Physics After an initial study of symmetry and crystal structure, quantum mechanics is used to describe the cohesion of solids, x-ray and neutron diffraction, the elasticity of solids, lattice vibrations, and the thermal and electrical properties of solids, with particular emphasis on metals.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisite: PHYS 4600 or instructor approval.
Credits: 3 hours
