SOC 5150 - Sociology of Mental Illness This course will be concerned with examining the contemporary meaning of concepts of mental health and mental illness. The course will also consider the amount and kind of mental illnesses, especially the differences by social class, age, gender, race, marital status, urban versus rural living, and migration, the structure of the mental health care delivery system, the nature of help-seeking for mental illness, and community care and public policy for mental illness.
