ART 2220 - Art of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas A survey of the diversity of media forms and context within which Africans and Pacific Islanders make and use art, including contemporary expressions. Select comparisons are made with indigenous traditions in the Americas. Art will be discussed in relation to wider cultural contexts, including historical, social, and political topics, global contacts, as well as and aesthetic approaches. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 2: Exploration and Discovery – World Language and Culture Category.
