EDLD 2000 - Exploring Leadership in a Changing World

This course is designed to provide an introductory overview to the concepts of leadership in a changing world, including the essential role of oral and digital communication. The core of any leadership role is the ability to acquire and convey information accurately and effectively. In this course leadership is conceptualized broadly to include: knowledge of relevant theories, inventories, and history; the development of skills that allow individuals to understand themselves, and to work with diverse communities; and the ability to gather and share information effectively in a variety of ways (orally, digitally, and in writing). Finally, students will begin to practice and demonstrate their current leadership capacity in a diverse society, specifically becoming familiar with the Leadership for Social Change Model. Information literacy, as well as oral and digital literacy, are foundational skills for effective leadership and will be explored and used throughout the course. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 1: Foundations – Oral and Digital Communications Category.

Credits: 3 hours

Notes: Open to undergraduate students only.
