LS 6870 - Secondary Literacy Across Disciplines This course provides a study of culturally responsive literary practices, critical thinking, and communication demands that adolescents and young adults face across secondary school experiences. Candidates’ will understand and apply evidence-based disciplinary literacy instruction and assessments that privilege discipline-specific knowledge and ways of knowing, e.g. how historians or mathematicians read, write, think, communicate, and collaborate or project-based goals. Candidates will be able to create and adapt effective transdisciplinary literacy instruction and assessment practices that are responsive to diverse secondary students’ learning needs.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisites: ED 5200, ED 5310, and ED 5450; with a grade of “CB” or better in all prerequisites.
Credits: 3 hours
