ANTH 3060 - Archaeology of Civilization

The course discusses the forces leading to the rise of the state and the emergence of centers of civilization. It investigates state emergence cross-culturally, examining shared characteristics and innovative pathways, social accomplishments and social costs, eastern and western hemispheres, far-flung and in the more recent past.
