ART 1200 - Introduction to Art

A topical introduction to the visual arts: painting, architecture, sculpture, photography, and the crafts. Discussions and slide presentations on such themes as the meaning of modern art, art as cultural and sociological expression, as symbol, as play and as form. This course will enable the non-art student to develop an art vocabulary and gain insights into our human quest for creative expression. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 2: Exploration and Discovery – Artistic Theory and Practice Category.
