ART 3280 - Art and Activism Artistic activism uses art to inspire social change. It combines the creative and imaginative qualities of art with the passion and commitment of activism to raise awareness about social issues, challenge systems, promote positive change, and inspire dialog. Art and activism merge creativity and advocacy in a practice where artists use various media to address pressing issues, ignite consciousness, and foster empathy. This course examines the relationship between artistic activism from several perspectives: historical, local, regional, national, and as artistic development. There are no prerequisites for this course. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 3: Connections – Local and National Perspectives Category. This course also meets the Diversity and Inclusion student learning outcome.
