ANTH 6050 - Biography and Material Culture This course introduces students to the anthropology of everyday and precious objects. The class explores how objects relate to people’s understandings of themselves as individuals and participants in specific cultural communities. Students will read classic and contemporary anthropological writings about material culture and will spend time discussing the differences between cultural and archaeological approaches to understanding objects.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisite: Previous course work in anthropology or history.
Credits 3 hrs.
