Curricula

The College of Aviation offers the following curricula:

  • Aviation Flight Science - Bachelor of Science
  • Aviation Science and Administration - Bachelor of Science
  • Aviation Technical Operations - Bachelor of Science

Admission to Aviation Curricula

Students who meet the WMU admission criteria will be placed in their major by the College of Aviation. To begin pilot training a Chief Flight Instructor approved application is required. Also a FAA 2nd class medical certificate is required (1st class is recommended). Enrollment in flight and flight theory courses is subject to a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better earned at Western Michigan University. Entering freshmen without a WMU grade point average will be considered if they have earned a high school GPA of 3.0 and an SAT score of 1070 or 21 on the ACT. Transfer students without a WMU GPA will be considered if they have earned a GPA of 2.5 or better from their prior institution (3.0 from a community college). Once the student meets these requirements, the student will be eligible to be placed in the flight training courses by the flight operations staff.
