MUS 3520 - Non-Western Music A study of the traditional music of China, Japan, Southeast Asia, India and the Arabic countries, as well as of the non-literate cultures around the world, such as American Indian, Australian Aborigine, African, and Micronesian. One or several cultures will be selected for close study and a particular attempt will be made to understand the customs and attitudes of a people through their music.
Credits: 4 hours
